The focal point of Millennium Park is the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Frank Gehry's dramatic indoor/outdoor music center. With its organic forms and state-of-the-art sound system, it is a landmark that has transformed Chicago's cityscape. After seeing Gehry's proposed models for the Pavilion, Chicago artist Alexis Petroff was inspired to document its construction from ground breaking through completion. Using a stationary camera perched across the street on the 10th floor of a building at Monroe and Michigan, Petroff shot approximately one photograph every week, from the spring of 2002 through the summer of 2004. Those photographs are the substance of this book, an exhilarating record of every stage of the Pavilion's construction.
